What I've been up to...

I would have loved to write something for torino10154's Blow Job Friday. (Have you seen the awesome stories over there?)
Well, lets just say I've been creative in other ways- like seasons craftmanship.

Though most people here are not very religious anymore nearly everyone celebrates a lot of those old Catholic traditions during Christmas season. So, I've crafted an Advent calender for the little one these last days and we've decorated our Advent wreath together today. Here are some pics about the calender crafting because it started a bit strange and now everything looks very shiny. And a pic of the wreath on top.

Took around 5 hours to get there. Thank heaven, we've only one child. ;p

We also crafted some window pictures (Christmas trees) together this afternoon. Now we are well prepared for this year's season. :D


Oh, and I've read a lot. Fics and books. I'm currently reading a book from my tbr pile which came to my mind again because drarryisgreen quoted it yesterday. I need to hurry because hd_erised starts posting on Monday. OMG, I'm so excited! :D

Those treats that you created are beautiful. So much fun. I used to do an advent calendar with my kids when they were small. They loved the little daily treats and it was fun for me too.

I'm so excited about Erised! The h/d holiday fest has always been one of the best fests. Can't wait.

Thank you, hon! Exactly, our little one is 4y old now and I remember that I got my first calender around that time. Hope she'll remember them fondly one day. :D

Oh, yes, December will be a blast with all holiday fests starting to post. Yay!

I listened to the book on audiobook first then I bought the kindle so I think re-reading it over and over again was def. helped by listening to it first.

It's great now, and I got used to the style pretty fast (had some reading time today and am nearly half way through and still love it :D). I finished a Sherlock fic with all its British upper class eloquence before I've started the story of D and Jack. LOL

But imagine how boring life would be without opposites. :D

Pst, I crafted one for Mr. Kantorka some years ago. Even he liked his shiny and glossy calender. I made him a pyramide out of the rolls but this time I didn't find a carton big enough to do so. The little one has got it this evening to take a first look and she's had some fun in shaking them. So, for her it's better that way. LOL

Two left hands? I saw your art. You haven't seen mine. I can only scribble stick-figures. And I can't even do it in a funny way like FTS did here.

Heh, Mr. Kantorka sure is one lucky guy - but in our family my BF is the real artist, with food and otherwise. If I tried to surprise him with my attempt at craft, I'd probably get a forced half-pitying smile and a pat on the head: "You tried very hard for this, baby, right?" Not exactly OMG, it's gorgeous... ;) I'll show you once his attempt at art, I can't attach anything here, but he's really good. And a computer programmer, mind you, completely missed his profession! ;)
Ahem - pssst, there is no "my" art, nothing in my LJ, see? *innocent blink* (Just a bit of doodling around for laughs ;))
Those stick figures, however, are glorious! :D How can someone stick (!) so much expression and body language onto a stick figure is beyond me. I'm sure you can do just as well - and you've got 24 shiny proofs of your artistic skill now! :)

My dear Nia, sorry I'm so late with commenting on this great post! Your Advent calendar looks splendid and I'm more than convinced that the little one will get all crazy just by looking at it. Our little one got one calendar from each grandmother (more chocolate than a two-year-old should ever be allowed to eat...) so this year I have no outlet for all my creative energy (except FESTs, of course). At least, I already baked tons of biscuits and she sprinkled them with colourful sugar beads (pellets?) - I don't know the right word but you know what I mean.

ERISED: YAY!!! My flist explodes with all the fest-posts popping up and I'm so looking forward to see your fic making its appearance <3! Dear giftees of Nia, be prepared for TOTAL AWESOMENESS!
