Well, it's not the only date in our history. The other one is much worse and was sort of a start of what Hitler's plans had been about. I'm referring to 'Crystal Night' or 'Night of Broken Glass' where paramilitary SA destroyed Jewish Synagogues, shops, houses and the authorities looked away. Hitler had been elected five years earlier, but from that moment on (antisemitism openly showed, tolerated and encouraged by the state) we were doomed. It's been nearly 80 years and it was way before my time, but it's not forgotten. At least not here, and not by millions of Jewish people all around the world. Well, I'm still happy we've managed to do something right at the same day 61 years later. Something I actually remember and how impressed I was. Seeing the wall fall is one of the reasons why I still think that love, passion, and compassion are ways to make our world a better place.
