Progress...
Heya, friends!
Sorry, for being a dozy smurf when it comes to posting here. But yeah, I'm quite busy with rl and writing. My FrostIron story is progressing, and I'm pretty curious if it'll get longer than my longest story so far, or not. It's not that there's a race going on or something, but the fic has passed 15k already. If I'll have the time during our upcoming vacation (the hotel promised functional and free wireless...) that I'll manage to follow my full outline, there's no way in hell that I'm done in 4-5k.There's also the tiny problem that I'll have to finish my
hp_nextgen_fest fic. At least the Muse is active and I don't have to fear a lack of words. That's something, isn't it?
During my research for said FrostIron fic I stumbled over a recording of Billy Talent's life concert at this year's Rock am Ring festival. Due to tempests the festival had to be cancled after their gig, and they gave a stunning last show that day. So energetic and powerful.
If you want to take a look...
Long story short, they mentioned their upcoming Europe tour in autumn during that gig, and yes,
candamira and I will go and see them in Frankfurt in December. Gosh, I'm so happy that I'll get so see them finally. I wanted to years ago, but I was already seeing Placebo that year, and it was in a matter of days, and just too much of a hassle. This year both bands are on tour again, but the timing is better and so - lucky me - I will see Placebo in Stuttgart with an old friend, and Billy Talent with Canda (aka a new friend) in Frankfurt. Mr. Kantorka only shakes his head at my quirks (and taste in music *phew*), but -HA- I so don't care. And it all started with fic research. :D
I love to do research. It's an essential part of my job, and I take it as seriously for stuff in my stories. The craziest thing I did this time (so far). I followed the Hudson river to its two springs (wasn't easy because the real springs aren't called Hudson anymore). I was looking for something else though-the tidal changes in East and Hudson river and how they differ. In case you are wondering and don't have a clue about New York City, they differ a lot, as the Hudson is a real river, the East river is actually a salt water estuary. Yep, fic writing is very educational.
Okay, I'll cease my rambling for today and hope you're all doing fine!

Research is one of the very best parts of writing fics! I love reading well-researched fics; I'm a compulsive researcher myself, so I always appreciate when little details are well thought out. My last few fics have involved researching European cities, wine, caves, drug detox and the Ministry of Magic floorplan. It's nice to learn when writing.
I am completely clueless about New York City, so I've officially learned something from your post. Consider me educated!

Haha, we should talk best research strategies.
It's a long list of things I've researched for this particular story. Like browsing about space and earth's atmosphere, locations in and around NYC, and don't forget Norse mythology, and ... ah, I shouldn't tell about it all, right?
Oh, I love to learn new things, and now I'm totally curious about your research about caves and drug detox. :D

Hey sweet! Just read you're fighting the meanest superflu. *send best wishes and hugs* I really hope you'll be done with illnesses for a looong time when this is over. I mean, enough is enough, right??? Did you really miss me? My abstinent time is over. I'm back. :-) Not full force yet, but lurking, writing and occasionally commenting.

I'm glad to see you're back though! :D And hopefully soon back in full force, eh? We miss you. <333

I will spread the word when the posting date is fix (around mid October) here. It's so exciting as it's my first tumblr fest and everything's a bit different compared to a LJ fest. But yeah, over there is a pretty active fandom (even though FrostIron is a smaller fraction in MCU fandom)

Heh, I totally agree with people's eye-rolling not getting to your musical taste - I barely know anyone who listens to the same music I do (and certainly no girls) and I still thoroughly enjoy it. It's still quite a time to December, but I do hope you enjoy your concert! :) *hugs-ies a plenty!*

I hope my nextgen will turn out drool worthy. No promises though. :)
Yes, it's some time until the concerts. I love arena concerts and am really looking forward to both of them. :)))
Your taste is a bit harder than mine, but as long as there a lovely melodies, I'm game.

and yay for billy talent concert- i saw them and they are soooo amazing and so wroth it!
wish you and canda all the fun!
and uhhh i never managed to see a placebo concert- one day i will *maybe*
so have fun at that for me too!
and music taste is luckily for you greatly unrelated to maternal bliss so enjoy all the weird music!

Great, that you loved to see them. *dances with glee*
You should tryt to see Placebo one day. Brian Molko has a brilliant voice. :D

And Placebo live is awesome :D Only seen them live once (which was maybe a good thing because people were mosh-pitting so hard I was surprised I made it out of the concert in one piece haha).
Also I love well researched fic, it's also very educational for the reader (although probably not half as education as when you're writing it haha). I hope your wifi will be up and running, since I also often had 'functional' wifi for about three hours each day in the middle of the night, when the network capacity could handle the traffic again.. (but your wifi will probably be great! And then you can write ALL the things and also research ALL the things!).
Exciting :D

Well, mosh-pitting isn't my thing either. Let's hope it's not going to get that bad during their arena tour in winter (I can see that happening at a Billy Talent concert quite easy too). Seeing Placebo live is a treat. :D
Let's hope for me writing ALL the things, best not in the middle of the night though. ;p
