Off to Edinburgh...

Yeah, I'm taking off tomorrow morning on a four-day journey to Edinburgh. *squeees*
I'm meeting some blog fellows on a Romance Author and Reader Event. Contemporary Romance isn't my primary book choice but once in a while I love to read one. And Edinburgh! I've never been to Scotland before and am super duper excited to visit this city. ♥ Everyone who has been there loved it.

And there's more. I've finished my first fest fic two hours ago. *does a silly dance* :)
I'm going to read it once more before I'll send it to my BookLikes beta. After that I'll have to find another one here. Next week I'll post it at the appropriate place. If you feel the need to read by all means a hd fest fic ~4.000 words, have the time and need the money just kiddin, please send me a PM.

Now, I have to start packing for real. But the essentials are settled (smoochfest fics on the reader - check, reacharger cables for all the devices - check, earphones - check, toothbrush - check).

Take care!

How to Talk With a Scottish Accent

My dear, this may be useful for your trip!

That's the fantastic life of a mother: Playground today, Edinburgh tomorrow, aye? Well for me actually, it's playground tomorrow, too... No, no envy here at all! So, off with you, and have a brilliant time!

The Scottish accent is a really fun accent. It is very simple to learn but many will be impressed by it. Follow these steps to speak like an authentic Scottish Highlander.

1 If you wish to pass for a Scot, you must learn to speak like one. Familiarize yourself with the slang of the Scots.

2 Learn to roll your Rs. Roll your Rs only once. Do this especially after a D, a T or a G.

3 One expression I like to use is "a little bubble at the front of your mouth," What this means is you must speak from the front of your mouth.

4 Make sure that you say words joining the syllables. If there are two short words together, pronounce them as one. Don't speak too fast, though. Drop the G from words ending in G: "evenin", "evening'".

5 Replace not with nee. "Did not", "didnee"

6 The vowels are key in a true Scottish accent. Is are always pronounced like in "fright". Pronounce Es like "eh" as in "bed".

7 The best way to develop a Scottish accent is by listening to it. Get to know Scots you know a little better, watch Scottish movies or go to Scotland.

Aye, will do! Love to say "aye", am thinking about using this more often. Aye. A Draco with a Scottish accent? *would grin in a circle if the ears weren't in the way*
