Title: D-day Minus Zero
Author/Artist:
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Pairing(s) Alice Longbottom/Frank Longbottom
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~1.5K
Warnings: none
Summary: Soon the shadows are going to claim her. Soon her world is going to disappear. Soon. But not yet.
Why I loved it:
This is one of these stories where you just want to change history, even if it’s “just” in a book, an imaginary world. And every new scene you get a remembrance that it would not happen. Nevertheless you hope and wish- until the end. Alice Longbottom’s voice is written so unbelievably great. Her voice sucks you in and you’ll fall in love with her bright and sunny nature- which makes it really hard to think about bonbon wrappers one minute longer.
But it IS a story about hope and love and life after all. Because Alice just lived it light-heartedly. Shouldn't we all do it that way?
Excerpt:
Three hours and eleven minutes before Alice's eyes will lock with a pair of manic, dark ones, unrelenting and full of hate, she lifts Neville up from his bed. He's warm from sleep, and his pyjama-clad little legs kick into the air as she tickles him on his belly. He looks at her with the total trust only a very young child can have. Alice swallows and lets her hand glide through the fine hair on his head. Every tiny part of her boy is full of life. Every movement and every gesture is born out of seeing the world as good. Knowing only safety. Meeting only love.
Title:Vigil

![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Pairing(s) Filius Flitwick, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~4.2K
Warnings: none
Summary: On the night after the Battle of Hogwarts, Filius and Minerva sit with Severus.
Why I loved it:
Vigil is a love story, a story about friendship, and loss. It’s told from Filius' pov in present tense no less. And it is so wonderfully done. Even if that style is not your cup of tea, you should give this story a try. It is so beautiful. Yes, it’s sad as well, but title and summary should be self-explanatory here. You’ll only sit in on a vigil if you have been deeply attached to the deceased person. Filius Flitwick’s personality felt so real to me. He is a great friend and a very attentive person and I just loved his silent way of sharing his story.
Excerpt:
Well, Filius isn't exactly sure. Into just "Severus," with all his incongruities and complexities and paradoxes and somehow, despite everything, his humanity. Filius knows he is one of the few who was privileged to see that humane side of Severus, and he feels momentarily both oppressed and buoyed by that knowledge. It's a rare gift, and like many gifts, carries with it an obligation.
Title: The Deeds And Sufferings of Light
Author/Artist:
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Character(s) Garrick Ollivander, Griphook, Luna Lovegood
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 3.142
Warnings: Implied Violence
Summary: On the day the Golden Trio are captured and brought to Malfoy Manor, three individuals await their fate in the darkness of the Malfoy dungeon.
Why I loved it:
This story is told from three povs and all are unique and fit to their characters. This fic was a real treat because I love to read more than one pov and I like stories about rarer characters. And the writing style is just impressive. I know it’s been recced before but I couldn’t help myself. So, if you haven’t read it already, please, go and take a look into the Malfoy dungeon.
Excerpt:
Wizards like young Draco Malfoy (hawthorn, ten inches, unicorn hair core) expect their wands to do all the work for them. These are the arrogant ones, the ones who struggle, who blame their wands for their shortcomings. They usually bring them back, denouncing them as defective. Garrick always apologises, takes the offending wand, gives it a polish and a quiet word of encouragement, lovingly places it in a new box, and presents it as a new wand. These lazy wizards usually then pronounce it perfect and go about their business. Magical folk are so childish about these things sometimes.
